Aon Risk Solutions Pittsburgh
We are proud that the 10th year Aon Pittsburgh has supported Kelsey’s CHRISTmas was the best year yet. We received tremendous support from both our colleagues as well as the Pittsburgh ACE (Chubb) and AIG offices, raising $20,000, filling at 17-foot U-Haul with toys, games, crafts, gift cards and 175+ handmade blankets to for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh – Oncology Child Life patients. A lunch was provided for patients, their families and staff when the gifts were handed out. We expanded our efforts with some smaller distributions to the children’s floors of WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital (where charity namesake, Kelsey, is going to Medical School) and MUSC Children’s Hospital in Charleston, SC. Special thanks to the Aon Pittsburgh “blanket crew” who volunteered and spent many hours cutting and tying blankets.
Aon Pittsburgh celebrates the 56 brokers and consultants who were recognized with the Risk & Insurance® esteemed Power Broker® designation, in addition to 21 professionals who were recognized as finalists, including our own Cara Cortes, for the second year in a row.
Power Broker winner and finalist selections are based on nominations provided by brokers and judged based on references given by clients and risk managers. Judging is based on a nominee’s creativity in problem solving, industry knowledge and client service.
“Each year, it is a tremendous honor for Aon’s brokers and consultants to be awarded Risk & Insurance’s Power Broker designation,” said Lori Goltermann, CEO of Aon Risk Solutions U.S. Retail operations.
“We are thrilled to have 56 colleagues recognized with this prestigious award for their work over the past year. A key differentiator for Aon is our people, and to have our colleagues honored with this award is a testament to Aon’s Client Promise and the caliber of talent that we attract and retain at the firm.”
On October 9, 2015, Aon partnered with AIG to assist the Pittsburgh Park Conservancy in weeding and replanting the Garden at Highland Park. This is our 2nd event at this location and this time the weather was very cooperative while we completed the project. As soon as we finished the sky opened up and a major downpour occurred. It is always nice to partner with our neighbor AIG in keeping the Pittsburgh Parks beautiful!
Peggy Zanotto, an Aon Pittsburgh Account Specialist, was named the Council Person of the Year by the Pennsylvania Council of Insurance Professionals. Peggy was selected based on her ongoing commitment and involvement with the organization, as well as her dedicated to its purpose and mission. Peggy has served the Pittsburgh association since the 1980’s as a member, committee chair and officer.
Please join us in congratulating Peggy!
Our office had the pleasure of working at the Northside Common Ministries on June 11th for our 2015 Global Service Day. As part of the firm’s global mission, Aon’s company-wide service day provides colleagues with the opportunity to take time off from their work to engage in charitable activities that focus on providing assistance to organizations that empower people and serve communities at risk.
In our project at Northside Common Ministries we worked through the morning inside and outside of the facilities, with projects ranging from painting to gardening. Our firm's Regional Manager, Jennifer Bell, even was able to participate and present Northside Common Ministries with a check so they can further help the Greater Pittsburgh community.
Cara Cortes, Vice President, Financial Services Group, was named a Risk & Insurance At-Large and Under 40 Power Broker. Cara's attention to detail, industry accumen and delivery of above-par fiscal results were all cited for reasons behind why she received this honor. We are very proud of Cara, please join us in congratulating her.
The Post-Gazette partnered with WorkplaceDynamics, a Philadelphia-based employee survey firm, to determine the region's Top Workplaces for 2013.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn't choose the Top Workplaces, employees do.
And their employees pushed FedEx Ground, Google Pittsburgh and TEIS (Therapeutic Early Intervention Services) as the top large, medium and small employers in this year's survey.
The only requirement was that an organization employed at least 50 people in the Pittsburgh area.
We invited 1,132 companies to participate and surveyed 133 of them. The surveyed companies employ 31,270 people in the region.
Most important for Pittsburgh-area employees was their ranking of this statement: "I would highly recommend working at this company to others," at 79 percent, followed by "This company motivates me to give my very best at work" (72 percent) and "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company" (71 percent).
Here are the Best Places to Work winners for 2013 from the Pittsburgh Business Times in the large- and medium-company categories. (We'll have the winners from the small companies Tuesday.) And the rankings will be announced Thursday in a special luncheon honoring the winners - and we'll have the results in the Friday, Nov. 1, edition of the Pittsburgh Business Times.
